Artistic and executive directors
The board of Skálholt Summer Concerts have decided to hire Ásbjörg Jónsdóttir and Birgit Djupedal as the artistic and executive directors for 2020-2021.
Ásbjörg and Birgit are both working as composers, musicians and choir conductors. They met while studying composition at Iceland University of the Arts and have since worked together on many projects, both creative and administrative.
Ásbjörg and Birgit are very excited to start working for the Skálholt Summer Concerts and grateful for the opportunity given to them by the board. They want to honor the long traditions of Skálholt Summer Concerts, but also start some new ones.

Ásbjörg JónsdóttirÁsbjörg has a varied background from both classical music and jazz. She studied composition both at IUA and Hartt School of Music (USA) and jazz at FÍH. Ásbjörg works as a musician, children's choir conductor in Guðriðarkirkja and as a teacher in Listaskóli Mosfellsbæjar.

Birgit DjupedalBirgit is from Bodø, a town in the north of Norway. She lived in Iceland from 2016-2019 and has just moved to Oslo. Birgit tries to visit Iceland whenever she has the chance, but she is very happy that she can also be a part of the Icelandic community in Oslo where she conducts the Icelandic choir Ískórinn. She has a background in musicology, church music and composition, as well as cultural entrepreneurship.
