Third Nordic Young Early Music Ensemble Competition 2014

The 2014 edition of EAR-ly will be held on Iceland in the first week of July 2014 and hosted by Skálholt Summer Concerts.
The overall aim with EAR-ly is to encourage the formation of new early music ensembles and to stimulate the interest in early music among students throughout the Nordic countries.
The first edition of EAR-ly was organised as a national competition in Sweden in June 2008 by Stockholm Early Music Festival. Since 2010 the competition is a Nordic event arranged by NORDEM, the Nordic Early Music Federation, and held every second year in one of the Nordic countries, hosted by one of the federation’s member festivals.
In 2010, the final took place in Stockholm with an international jury headed by Ton Koopman and Norwegian Cornett & Sackbuts from Norway as the winning ensemble. In 2012 the final was held in Oslo with a jury leaded by Eduardo Egüez. The winner was the Finnish/Norwegian duo White Sparrow.
The final 2014 will take place Thursday 3 July at 8 pm. The Swedish groups Ensemble Flautino and Bastard Barock will be performing along with the Finish duo Marini-Ollberg Duo.
