The Gondwana Voices Children's Choir

Gondwana Voices, Australia’s national children’s choir, has secured a reputation as a world-class ensemble, capable of performing complex music at a professional standard. Lyn Williams OAM formed the treble choir Gondwana Voices in 1997 where young musicians from across the Australian continent could discover others who share their passion for singing. The choir is instantly recognised for its crystal clear sound, precision and discipline and its choristers display a courageous and compelling performance style. Gondwana Voices regularly performs, records and collaborates with the professional orchestras, ensembles and opera companies in Sydney.
Both Gondwana Voices and Sydney Children’s Choir have toured extensively throughout Australia and internationally. In 2007, Gondwana Voices performed Brett Dean’s Vexations and Devotions at the BBC Proms, which was recorded for BIS. The choir has collaborated with the world-renowned Australian Chamber Orchestra at the invitation of artistic director Richard Tognetti for two national tours.
Gondwana Voices is committed to creativity through the composition and presentation of new choral works. Its young musicians are intimately connected to contemporary and traditional repertoire throughout their training through collaborations with emerging and established composers. The body of work created through the choir is an integral part of Australian choral repertoire, enabling the development of many Australian composers writing single songs or works for massed choir and orchestra, such as Jandamarra: Sing for the Country by Paul Stanhope.
